Portals is the brainchild of mixed media artist Heather Simpson-Bluhm. In 2005 she began producing a full color, 8.5 x 11" zine to focus primarily on mixed media art and talented but lesser known artists. In addition, photography and creative writing were included.

In March of 2006 the first issue of Portals was produced and quickly sold out. Initially intended to be a limited edition Zine, demand was so great that Portals became a regular publication. To this day, all issues continue to sell well.

Early 2007 brought a few difficulties but Portals perserveres. Currently Heather is producing the Zine on her own with some assistance from talented volunteers and friends.

 

Heather Simpson-Bluhm is a mixed media artist and full time stay at home Mom. Between experiencing every new thing with her 3 and a half year old, she tried to squeeze in time to make mixed media art. She has yet to figure out what her true passion is so she dabbles in a bit of everything. Heather is addicted to coffee, art supplies and bird related paraphenalia.
